Rabies virus belongs to the genus Lyssavirus of the family Rhabdoviridae. It is the pathogen that causes rabies.
This kit is used for the detection of rabies virus antigen in the saliva of canine and feline, and for the screening and auxiliary diagnosis of rabies virus infection in canine and feline.
This product uses rapid immunochromatography technology to detect rabies virus antigen in the saliva of canine and feline. If the RBV antigen was present in the sample, it would specifically bind to the recombinant protein labeled with colloidal gold to form a complex that moved along the chromatographic membrane and was captured by the RBV antibody coated on the membrane, showing a wine red line on the detection line (T). If the RBV antigen is not present in the sample, no visible lines are formed at the T position. No matter the result is negative or positive, the C line should be colored, otherwise the result is invalid.
Negative: In the test window, only one fuchsia-colored line appear next to “C”.
Positive: In the test window, two distinct colored lines appear next to “T” & “C” simultaneously.
Invalid: No color line visible next to “C”.
NOTE: Invalid test results can be caused by various reasons and should be re-tested.
